James A. Marot

beloved father

James A. Marot, 70, of Parker, Colo., was called home February 22, 2010. He was the loving husband of Lea. Jim was born on March 10, 1939 in Providence to the late Edna and Raymond Marot. Jim was invested in education, achieving a master's degree in non-profit business management from Regis University. Jim married Lea Rahning on July 27, 1963 in Denver, Colo. Jim worked for Western Electric, which later became AT&T, for 30+ years and wore many hats from installation to management. Jim was involved in many civic activities, some with his children as well as within the community. He enjoyed coaching softball and being intricately involved with establishing the first girl's softball team in Douglas County. He was pivotal in the work it took to develop community projects such as a teen driving facility as well as many parks in Parker and the Douglas County Open Space Project. Jim was very passionate about his political and spiritual beliefs. He was involved in several Bible studies as well as the first Friday Breakfast Club. He was the beloved father of Christi Nelson and her husband, Jim, Michelle White and her husband, Frank, and Jami Marot Sato, and proud Papa of 10 grandchildren. Jim is survived by his four siblings, Eileen Wilson, Richard Marot and his wife, Betty, Maureen Marsigliano and her husband, Rocco, and Raymond Marot and his wife, Debbie. He was the brother of the late Raymond Marot Jr. A Celebration of Life Service was held Feb. 26 at Providence Presbyterian Church, 18632 Pony Express Dr., Parker.
