In celebration of National Adoption Month, Adoption Rhode Island will hold their annual State House Ceremony to celebrate adoption, raise awareness about the children who wait, and recognize Rhode Islanders and adoption professionals for their dedication to improving futures for the hundreds of children in state care hoping to someday have a family to call their own. The inspiring event, open to the public will take place on Thursday, November 15, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Chamber Room on the 2nd floor of the Rhode Island State House. The heartwarming ceremony is made extra special by the unveiling of Rhode Island's 14th Annual Heart Gallery, a powerful exhibit of portraits of children in need of loving permanent families, produced with the help of Printmakers, Inc. of Pawtucket and several Rhode Island photographers.

Adoption RI's theme for the coming year and featured during the State House event is "Children first, and always," a practice they embrace in every aspect of their work.

As the Heart Gallery is revealed, many of the children featured will be present to see their portraits for the first time and to reconnect with the local photographers who donated their time and talents to create a memory for each child.

The Rhode Island Heart Gallery will continue spreading magic to thousands of people as it tours the state throughout the year.

"Everywhere the Heart Gallery is displayed, new people come forward to become a visiting resource, a foster parent, to find out more about adoption, or to begin the process," explains Adoption RI CEO and Executive Director, Darlene Allen said in a statement. "Others have reached out to help the children by volunteering or sharing a talent or skill. Some feel a compelling bond with a particular child. And most exciting, some families have gone on to be a 'forever family' to children."

The celebration will also include a brief speaking program, an Award Ceremony honoring valued supporters, and more.
