Cranston police are seeking the public’s help in identifying two men who reportedly attempted to abduct a nine-year-old boy.

Officers were called to the area of 23 Villa Ave. at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Sunday for a report of an attempted abduction. At the scene, officers were told two white males in their early 20s had been sitting in a vehicle in the area “and made luring statements” to the young boy in an attempt to get him to come closer, according to a release from State Police Lt. Matthew Moynihan.

The boy immediately went to his home and informed his mother of the incident, the lieutenant said.

Police said according to information provided by the young boy, the two men were sitting in an older model gold vehicle. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle or suspects in the area.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects, Sunday’s incident or any similar incidents is asked to contact Canston Police Detective Commander Sean Carmody at 401-477-5143 or via email at scarmody@cranstonpoliceri.com.
