3rd annual golf outing to help raise funds for Lt. Jim Pagano Foundation

Posted

On Aug. 11, the Lt. Jim Pagano Foundation will be hosting its third annual golf tournament presented this year by the Cranston Firefighters Union 1363, Sports Illustrated/Golf Magazine, the DeRamel Foundation and Millennium Consulting.

The tournament will be held at the Alpine Country Club in Cranston, followed by the Champions Charity Dinner celebration.

Tickets to the Champions Dinner, which will feature gourmet dinner stations, live music, an extensive silent auction and raffle prizes, are $50 per person and can be reserved by visiting www.jimpaganofoundation.com, or email lisapagano1@verizon.net.

The Lt. Jim Pagano Foundation was established in 2012 by the Pagano family in memory of the slain Cranston firefighter. Jim’s mother, Rose Pagano, stated, “Our son was a devoted family man and sports enthusiast, as well as an active supporter of the Cranston community. He was very passionate about the social, physical and psychological development of his children, as well as their participation in team sports and academic achievement. Our continued hope for the Foundation is to help children develop as individuals and thrive as adults.”

This year, the proceeds from the event will be used to fund sixth-grade STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) programming, recognizing the need to for students to develop an interest in those areas at an early age, and to develop those skills over many years to succeed as trained employees in the work force as adults.

The programs will teach robotics using LEGO Mindstorms software to make the programs fun and interesting to this age group.
