On Aug. 23, Jill and Bill Caldarone of Cranston spent their 71st wedding anniversary with family and friends at the West Valley Inn. The two first met at Central High School, and were married on Federal Hill in 1944. Both are 95. Just this year, Jill published a book called “Jill and Bill from Federal Hill,” which chronicles their lives together. Writing also came easy for Bill, a Marine Corps veteran who wrote and edited the newspaper “The Rock” while serving in Samoa for two years.
