To the Editor:

Gay and lesbian people who commit their lives to one another want to marry for the same reasons as everyone else – to build a life and home together, start a family and be there to love and protect one another for life.

There are people that take offense to the word marriage being used for a same sex couple. Is there a good reason not to call a same sex couple union by a different word?
