The CLCF 9-year-old all-star team opened play in the state tournament Saturday night with a big win over West Warwick, but stumbled the next day in its pursuit of the title. After defeating West Warwick easily 16-2, CLCF fell 6-5 to the host Apponaug team in the winner’s bracket final. Still, CLCF rebounded with a win over West Warwick Monday night in the loser’s bracket final to get back to the championship, where it will once again oppose Apponaug. That game was scheduled for Tuesday night, with results unavailable at press time. CLCF would have to win twice to claim the state championship, and if it won on Tuesday the second game was scheduled for Wednesday night.
