CNB Ravens win 8U state crown

The CNB Ravens 8-and-under travel team captured the ASA state championship recently, defeating Smithfield 12-0 in the title game held at Darlington.

CNB’s first game of the tournament was against the North Kingstown Riptide, which CNB won. It advanced to take on the North Providence Velocity and again came out on top. That brought CNB to a game with the Smithfield Storm, which handed CNB its first loss of the tournament 9-8.

Now having to take the long road back to the finals, CNB beat Coventry and then Smithfield 11-8 to set up the winner-take-all championship game with Smithfield. CNB put its best foot forward, taking the crown.

The state championship was the culmination of a dominant summer for CNB. It went undefeated in the CLCF tournament and the North Kingstown tournament, as well as its home tournament. In the Darlington tournament, it suffered its first loss of the summer to Coventry in the championship game.

It took its second loss of the summer in the state tournament before rebounding to win.

The team is managed by Dan Cote. (Submitted photo)
