Earlier this month, Captain’s Angels – a softball team based out of Cranston – won the fifth annual “Compete For A Cure” Women’s Class E Slow-Pitch Championship held in Taunton, Mass. The tournament is put on by PLU, Inc., an organization dedicated to raising money to help battle breast cancer. Although the team has competed in this tournament for the past five years, the fact that one of their team members lost her mother to breast cancer just two short years ago has made this cause very near and dear to their hearts. As a result of the team’s win, five hundred dollars was donated to “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” in loving memory of Linda Benoit. (Submitted photo)
