It has been said that "laughter is the best medicine", and if ever there was a time when we could all use a little laughter to lift our spirits, it is now. The owners of Christopher's Cranston Deli & Pub on Park Avenue know that when you put great food, a great atmosphere, an open mic and a bunch of talented comedians together, good times are bound to happen - and so this is exactly what they have done. The doors are now open at Christopher's on the first three Tuesday nights of every month to "up and coming" comics and veteran comics alike who make us laugh and who can test their skills in front of a live audience. There is no fee charged for this free entertainment. On any given Tuesday, you will hear up to 20 comics practicing their acts, fine tuning their skills and using your feedback to gauge if their jokes are outright funny, or if they need a tweak or two, here and there.

If you are a budding comedian and want to give your act a "dress rehearsal" OR, if you just want a great place to gather with friends for a night of laughter - then make your way to Christopher's in Cranston. Just ask Mike Casey, the organizer and brainchild behind this novel idea.

Casey, a local comedian who hails from Cranston, had the idea to create this "comedy workshop" for his fellow comics and pitched that idea to the owners of this popular deli and pub-style restaurant - and they were in! Casey has lured talented comics here who have performed in venues as far away as Vegas and as close to home as Providence. One such performer is Brian Beaudoin, the co-owner of "Wicked Funny Productions" here in Rhode Island and a familiar face in the comedy circuit. Casey and Beaudoin know that nothing brings people together better than a good joke (and good food at Christophers)!

Funny man Casey has invited some of the best and brightest comedians in the business to come to a paid event (a bargain price of only $10/person) to be held here at Christopher's this Saturday, April 13th at 7:00pm. Along with the usual great fare from the kitchen and the great drinks from the bar, enjoy a night of true comedy, featuring the winners of a contest of local comedians. If you are tired of the same old "bar scene", then there is no better place to spend your Saturday night.

Located on 1458 Park Avenue, Christopher's Cranston Deli & Pub is the perfect place to host YOUR next big party as well. Christopher's is open from 11am to 11pm, Sun. - Thurs. and from 11am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. For more information or to place a take-out order, call 942-9601 or visit their website at www.cranstondeli.com.
