The Defenders of Animals Inc. held its 20th annual Homeless Animals Day/Candlelight Vigil on Aug. 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.at the Governor Sprague Mansion in Cranston. Among those receiving an award on behalf of the Cranston Fire Department was Chief William McKenna for all the assistance the department has given animals in the past.
