They say laughter is the best medicine. And in the case of Paul Whitfield, that is true.
At a Funny 4 Funds fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 25, friends, family and community supporters came out and raised more than $6,000 for the uninsured expenses related to Whitfield’s kidney transplant procedure. He will be having surgery on Jan. 10, 2017.
“The night was amazing. Bill Simas and Mike Murray run a class brand in Funny 4 Funds and I highly recommend them for any fundraising event,” Whitfield said. “I am humbled by all the support from our show sponsors to everyone who attended the show to everyone that has reached out with words of encouragement. I was especially touched that Mayor [Allan] Fung came on his personal time to West Warwick on a Sunday evening to show his encouragement. Marcus and I feel extremely lucky and loved.”
There is a golf tournament fundraiser for Whitfield on Oct. 24 at Valley Country Club. Anyone in interested in playing may contact Fred Smith at fsmith6163@gmail.com.
