Community cleans up Meshanticut Park

Posted

Organized by Ward 5 Councilman Chris Paplauskas, volunteers from the community and the Cranston High School West lacrosse team spent over three hours on Sunday picking up debris at Meshanticut Park.

With more than 40 volunteers in all, the group collected a wooden pallet, a car starter, fast food bags, beer and soda cans, water bottles, a wood pallet, an old blue recycling bin, lots of Styrofoam cups, and other random trash.

“I’m just so happy the community can come together to clean up the park,” Paplauskas said. “It was a total team effort in making the park clean and green. I look forward to doing another neighborhood cleanup soon and am thankful of the dedication and commitment to our community that all the volunteers gave on Sunday. I especially want to thank the Cranston West lacrosse team for taking the time to help and to Durfree’s Hardware for donating some trash bags and gloves.

Paplauskas said he has also reached out in an effort to place trash receptacles at the park.
