For the third year in a row, the families, faculty and students of Cornerstone School gathered at the track at Bain Middle School to wheel, walk, ride and run in support of the school's fundraising efforts.
The school is in desperate need of a safe play area for their students with disabilities as well as for their able-bodied students to play in. The cost of the playground is approximately $44,000, a cost that school fundraisers have been trying to whittle away at for years. The current playground is inaccessible for many of their students and in need of repair, but is also not appropriate for the sensory needs of many of the students
The Wheel-a-thon included raffles, a bake sale and face painting as well as a safety table set up by the Cranston Police Department and visits from the Cranston West Falconettes, RJ Heim and Mayor Allan Fung to kick off the day.
