Thunderbolt Homecoming

Cranston High School East will hold its annual Homecoming Festivities on Nov. 7. A ceremony will be held on the front steps of the school at 5:30 p.m., with a parade down Park Avenue to the Cranston Stadium stepping off at 6 p.m. That evening, East will be playing South Kingston High School.

Many faculty, staff, students and alumni participate in Homecoming, along with families and friends. School groups will be selling products at tables set up inside the gym foyer beginning at 5 p.m.

Woodridge Church bazaar

Woodridge Church Congregational United Church of Christ, located at 546 Budlong Road, will host its annual Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be activities for children, hourly raffles, a penny social, a silent auction and a grand raffle featuring three prizes.

A luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the menu includes homemade soup, pizza and meatball and chicken salad sandwiches.

Visitors are asked to bring a canned good to support the Cranston Interfaith Food Pantry. The bazaar is free and open to the public.

Seed library

Following the success of its first seasonal Seed Library, the William Hall Library will be holding a free Seed Saving Workshop on Nov. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The workshop will be run by expert gardeners, who will discuss proper practice for seed saving, as well as tips for preparing next year’s gardens. Each participant will receive a gardening bibliography as well as garlic cloves for planting. This program is free and open to the public.

Library, Holocaust Education and Resource Center team up for event

On Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m., the Cranston Public Library and the Holocaust Education and Resource Center of Rhode Island will present a free lecture by Helen Kagan, entitled “Berlin: 70 Years After the Holocaust.”

This lecture, an installment of the Victor Baxt Lecture Series, will discuss the ways in which the city of Berlin was affected by the events of World War II, and the impact of those events on the city’s identity today.

Kagan is an officer for Harvard Lifelong Learning Seminars, as well as an active member of the National History Honor Society. Kagan graduated from the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College, and has taught in the Providence Public School system, as well as at the Community College of Rhode Island.

Holiday craft fair and luncheon

Oak Lawn Community Baptist Church, located at 229 Wilbur Ave., will hold its Holiday Craft Fair and Luncheon on Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a Fireside Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be homemade baked goods for sale, a White Elephant Room, holiday treasures at great prices and a Kids’ Holiday Design n’ Buy Studio where children can create holiday gift bags and then purchase gift items to fill them with all items $5 and under. Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Mission/South Providence Neighborhood Ministries.

Meeting of Cranston Senior Guild

The Cranston Senior Guild will meet at 1 p.m. Nov. 5 at Phyllis Siperstein Tamarisk Assisted Living, located at 3 Shalom Drive in Warwick. There will be entertainment followed by a raffle and refreshments. All men and women 55 years and older are welcome to join. You do not have to be a Cranston resident.

Tomorrow Fund Ball Annual Fantasy Ball

The Tomorrow Fund will celebrate “An Evening at the Opera” at the 27th Annual Fantasy Ball on Nov. 8 at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet. All proceeds will benefit The Tomorrow Fund, the only local non-profit organization that provides daily financial and emotional support to children with cancer and their families for the past 30 years.

The Ball will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. Dinner and dancing to the music of “GQ and the Lady” will follow. Highlighting the evening will be silent and live auctions featuring trips and getaways, golf at private courses, artwork, fine wine and more. Approximately 700 guests are expected to attend.

Fall concert series at the Hall

The William Hall Library’s Fall Concert Series has already begun, and performances will take place on various Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the library auditorium. The series will continue through Dec. 6.

Performers include guitar duo Michael Hession & Caleb Seibert (Nov. 1), Owen Trainor (Nov. 15) and the Zefiro Ensemble (Dec. 6). Concerts are free and open to the public. The Fall Concert Series is made possible by a donation from David and Judy Pelkey.

Scandinavian Brunch

Scandinavian Brunch, hosted by Star Lodge #56 (Vasa Order of America), will be held on Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Vasa Hall, located at 43 Bald Hill Road in Cranston. On the menu will be scrambled eggs, home fries, baked beans, Swedish pancakes, Swedish meatballs, ham, sausage, Swedish breads, rice pudding, coffee and juice. There will be a cultural display table, cultural music performances, a baked goods table by Swede-a-licious and a raffle. The donation is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Senior Blessing Craft Show

Want to promote your business? Whether it be baking, makeup products, homemade household items and gifts, jewelry, flower arrangements, or anything else you want to share, come join us for a full day of selling and meeting new people. The event, held on Nov. 1, and setup begins at 7 p.m. with the craft show running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Praise Tabernacle Church, located at 330 Park Ave. The event will benefit Senior Blessings, a group of volunteers who visit the sick, lonely and disabled in various long term facilities.

Vendors sought for Edgewood Church Holiday Bazaar

Vendors are wanted for the annual Edgewood Congregational Church Holiday Bazaar to be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The bazaar will feature special tables selling gifts, crafts, food items, plants, floral arrangements, antiques, etc., and will include a visit from Santa, a straw raffle, entertainment, family fun and fabulous prizes.
