Local company assists to get 260 turkeys in 16 days

3am Writers, located in Cranston, brought the community together to fulfill Thanksgiving needs for Nickerson Community Center (NCC). Since 1884, Nickerson Community Center has opened its doors to the Olneyville community. They offer support with social service programs that engage the neighborhood, enhance residents’ quality of life and empower people to create waves of positivity and change. A couple weeks before Thanksgiving, all of Nickerson Community Center’s turkey donations fell through. Having worked on their website over the summer, 3am Writers, owned and operated by Aileen McDonough, felt a responsibility to reach out to the community through social media and was able to help fulfill NCC’s holiday food needs.

So who were the generous donors? One person chose to remain anonymous but donated 100 turkeys. The anonymous donor heard about the dilemma while visiting one of 3am Writers’ contacts, Holistic Health RI, and decided to help out. Another donor was 3am Writers’ client Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk, who donated two vans full of groceries, including 30 turkeys and other assorted items to complete a traditional Thanksgiving meal. For more information on 3am Writers, visit their website at www.3amwriters.com.

Did You Know?

The New York Times Square ball has been dropped nearly every year since 1907. It was, however, suspended during the early ’40s because of the blackout restrictions of war. Over time, the ball itself has ballooned from a 700-pound iron-and-wood orb to a brightly patterned sphere with crystals that is 12 feet in diameter and weighing nearly 12,000 pounds.
