KG Salon's Cut-a-Thon raises money for RIPCF

On a cold snowy afternoon this past Sunday, you could feel the warmth inside KG Salon, located at 2144 Broad St., as it held a cut-a-thon to benefit the R.I. Pet Connection Foundation. With more than 24 booked appointments, all six Salon KG employees were busy as they donated their time.

R.I. Pet Connection Foundation and Salon KG teamed up to raise funds for adoptable dogs by hosting this event. They took appointments for each half-hour slot. There was also a donation box for dog food. Raffles were held and each client was given a $10-off card for their next visit to the salon. All services, such as haircuts, curls and makeup touch-ups, were made available to the public for a $10 donation.

R.I. Pet Connection Foundation is a nonprofit animal rescue that takes in owner surrenders from Rhode Island and other nearby states. They provide medical care such as spay/neuter and even rehabilitation if the animal needs it. Many of their dogs come from horrible situations and they place them into loving homes.

To raise funds to help these animals, they put on numerous fundraisers a month such as the cut-a-thon. All funds raised go directly to helping their dogs. At the event, their resident foster, Solomon, was on hand, too. He is an 8-9-year-old boxer lab mix looking for his forever home. (Herald photos by Steve Popiel)
