Despite the brutal heat and humidity, the 36 golfers at the Cranston Country Club on July 12 proved they could handle the weather as they took to the course in their support of Cranston High School East’s football program.
“Over the years we have had many loyal tee sponsors and golfers and they have help fund many of the additional items we have needed for the program. Hopefully we will continue to add more golfers especially former Thunderbolt football players and alumni. I think having the alumni participate allows us to keep them involved in the program and be a part of our football team each year,” said head coach Tom Centore.
In the past, the effort has raised anywhere from $4,000 to $5,000. The money is used to pay for any extra items needed for the program.
This year’s winning foursome was the group of Joe Dellaquilla, Joe Scotti, Matt Placella and John Lang. The two Joes played football for Centore when he was at Johnston high school.
