The Cranston East and West girls’ volleyball teams seem evenly matched based on their records, and their showdown last Wednesday reflected that.
The ’Bolts knocked off the Falcons 3-2, winning a deciding fifth game by a 16-14 margin. East rallied from a 2-1 deficit in games to win game four 25-21 and ultimately win the final game.
West rebounded to beat Narragansett 3-0 two days later.
The teams are now both 7-4, good for third place in Division II-South. They’ve also beaten each other once apiece, as West beat East 3-1 earlier in the season.
East Greenwich sits in first place with an 11-0 mark, and the Avengers defeated East 3-0 on Friday. Pilgrim is in second at 7-3.
Both teams have five matches remaining on the season. West is set to host Westerly Thursday at 6:30 p.m. before playing a murderer’s row of Toll Gate, Pilgrim, East Greenwich and Warwick to end the season.
East was scheduled to play Narragansett Tuesday, with results unavailable at press time. After that, it will play Pilgrim, West Warwick, Westerly and Warwick Vets.
