Ernest J. Esposito, 84 of Cranston, RI passed away peacefully at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center of Providence, RI on June 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Foran) Esposito for 59 years.

He was born in Providence a son of the late Ernest and Jennie (Nassa) Esposito. Ernie served with the First Marine Division during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was past grand knight of the Msgr. Blessing Council Knights of Columbus. He was also active for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. Ernie worked at Quonset NAS until it’s closing and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He continued to work for Citizens Bank, Rolfe Sq up until 8 months ago.

Besides his wife, he was the loving and devoted father of Cheryl (Esposito) Aubin (Timothy) of Cranston, RI and David Esposito (Debra) of Warwick, RI. He was the beloved “Papa” of Brian Esposito of Warwick, RI. He was the brother of Richard A. Esposito of Scituate, RI and Vivian (Esposito) Toste (Joe) of Providence, RI and the late Robert (Bob) Esposito of Smithfield, RI.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 8:45 a.m. from The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. www.murphyfuneralhomes.org
