Gone to the dogs

Cranston Animal Control Officer Pat Maxwell shares a moment with two of her valuable volunteers, Abigail Kojoian, 13, and her sister Michaiah Kojoian, 15. Abigale is holding Tutti, a two-year-old who has already been adopted. Maxwell emphasized that there were plenty more dogs and cats at the shelter every day up for adoption. The Kojoian sisters publish the “Pawprint Press,” which is produced for the Cranston Animal Shelter with adoption and shelter information as well as photos of pets up for adoption.

On Feb. 28, Pet Supplies Plus in Garden City held a “Make it Home” pet adoption event. That day alone, five dogs found homes, and many others are waiting at local shelters and foster homes. The event also included a book signing of “Mr. Wilson Finds His Way Home” with author Michael Morse, dogs on hand to play with and an exhibit by the Cranston Animal Shelter. Dogs that were adopted that day came from New England All Breed Rescue, which helps homeless and unwanted dogs.
