On Dec. 7, both Joy Homestead and Sprague Mansion in Cranston celebrated the Christmas season with decorations, festive atmosphere, food and beverages as well as history of both historical homes. Tours were also included as the community turned out to celebrate. At the 1860s Governor Sprague Mansion at 1351 Cranston St., visitors were delighted by holiday music on wind instruments of Sharon Albert & Friends. Wassail and cookies were served, and some rooms were open at no charge. This year, the Western Cranston Garden Club decorated the mansion in Victorian splendor. At the Joy Homestead at 156 Scituate Ave., guests enjoyed colonial holiday cheer and the warmth of Job Joy’s home.
