The eighth annual Hope for the Homeless was held at the Dream Center, located at 330 Park Ave. – the same address as Praise Tabernacle Church – on Oct. 8. This free event was geared to help those in need of direction for substance abuse, physical abuse and mental abuse. It also focused on low-income housing, food, clothing, legal aid and private AIDS testing and had a pharmacist on site. The goal was to provide those in need of help with resources and food, which was donated by volunteers and Texas Roadhouse. There were also free raffles and live music for entertainment. Three busloads were brought to the event from Kennedy Plaza, Crossroads, Providence Rescue Mission and West Warwick. For more information, contact the Dream Center at 396-2743.
