Jane L. (Berghorn) Girouard, 68, of Warwick died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at RI Hospital surrounded by family. She was the former wife of Frank E. Girouard.
Born in Providence, Jane was the loving daughter of Lois L. (Anderson) Berghorn of Warwick and the late Walter C. Berghorn. A lifelong resident of Warwick, Jane was employed as a customer service representative in the Medical Service Industry until retiring. Jane was an avid animal lover and long-time docent at Roger Williams Park Zoo where she was proud to have earned her Lifetime Docent pin in December. She loved spending time with family, listening to music, going to the beach, and flip-flops. Eternally young at heart and with a gentle playful spirit, she will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of the relatives and friends she has left behind.
Jane is survived by her beloved children: Jason W. Girouard (Karen Mears) of Framingham, MA and Jody B. Proescher (Alex) of Perry Hall, MD; two brothers: Paul F. Berghorn of Warwick and William M. Berghorn of Coventry; a sister: Kristina B. Raso of Warwick; and two cherished grandchildren: Olivia and Oden. She was the sister of the late Richard C. Berghorn. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and her two beloved cats: Suzy and Stanley.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Lakewood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Ave., Warwick. Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 3 p.m.– 6 p.m. in the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick (Exit 12-A off I-95).
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Roger Williams Park Zoo (1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence) in support the ZooMobile Program.
