Joseph A. Valentim, Sr. went to his final reward in heaven on March 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He joined his wife of 59 years, Corinne A. (Marshall) Valentim, who preceded him in death in November of 2012.

His pride, joy and legacy were his children and grandchildren. He was a role model, mentor and guiding light to all. Mr. Valentim was a salesperson with the Sunbeam Bread Co. for 32 years until his retirement. Following his retirement, he was employed by Superior Bakery for 12 years. A Korean War Veteran, he served as a Corporal in The United States Air Force. Mr. Valentim was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston where he served as a member and treasurer of the St. Joseph’s Guild.

He was the loving father of Karen M. Giblin and her husband, Joseph, Jr. of North Kingstown, Edward J. Valentim and his wife, Deborah of Cranston, Joseph A. Valentim, Jr. and his wife, Jean of Garland, Maine and William V. Valentim and his wife, Antonina Marques of West Warwick. He was the cherished grandfather of Christine Valentim, Dawn Temple, Edward J. Valentim, Jr., Justin and Derek Valentim, Frank, Theresa and Andrew Alfiero, Colin and Molly Giblin, Alyssa M. Escobar and Ryan Anthony Valentim; and the caring brother of Vincent Valentim of Fairhope, Alabama, Al Ferreira of Hammond, Louisiana and the late Carlos Ferreira, Alfred Francisco and Mary “Sally” Wyzga.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. in The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). His funeral will be held on Friday, March, 28, 2014 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Garden Hills Drive, Cranston.
