Junior League goes ‘truckin’ for community programs

The Junior League of Rhode Island held a Touch A Truck event in Garden City Center this weekend that hosted a Cranston Fire Truck, a Cranston Police SUV, State Police cruiser, the Gloria Gemma Resource Foundation’s Hope Bus, WB Mason, Your Laundry Hamper truck, Monroe Dairy and military vehicles. The Junior League is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Approximately $1,000 was raised during the event.

Since 1921, more than 16,000 Rhode Island women have participated as members. More than 2.2 million hours of community service have been contributed, valued at more than $40 million, and the Junior League of RI has contributed over $1.5 million to community partners statewide.
