Hundreds of personal care items were generously donated by the community during the recent BankNewport and OceanPoint Insurance Agency (OPIA) “Kind Heart, Fresh Start” collection drive.
Toiletries, including bars of soap, deodorant, travel size shampoo, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, were collected at all Bank and OPIA locations over a two-week period, Aug. 1-15. The goal of the drive was to help restock the inventory of hygiene products at five local shelters, a show of support for their mission to serve those most in need.
At the conclusion of the collection drive, BankNewport representatives transported all toiletry donations to the five shelters that serve Bristol County, Newport County and West Bay communities: Good Neighbors (Turner Avenue, Riverside), Harrington Hall (Howard Avenue, Cranston), Lucy’s Hearth (West Main Road, Middletown), McKinney Cooperative Shelter (Meeting Street, Newport), and Welcome House of South County (North Road, Peace Dale).
