The students in the Life Skills classes at Cranston High School West hosted their annual Thanksgiving dinner last week, with the support of the Culinary Arts program at the Cranston Area Career and Technical School. The dinner was held in the Meshanticut Room on Nov. 9.
The buffet-style meal included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, rolls, salad, cranberry sauce and gravy, along with pumpkin pie for dessert. Royal Poultry donated the turkeys and Chefs Martha Sylvestre and Steve Versacci of the CACTC Culinary Arts program assisted the students in their preparations. The dining room was decorated with seasonal artwork created by the students.
There were many guests from within the Cranston Public Schools administration, including Superintendent Dr. Judith Lundsten, Assistant Superintendent Jeannine Nota-Masse, Chief Operating Officer Raymond Votto, Executive Director of Pupil Personnel Services Cheryl Coogan, CACTC Director Gerald Auth, West Principal Tom Barbieri, and School Committee Members Michael Traficante and Andrea Iannazzi.
The students participating in the dinner included Morgan Ferro, Christian Cardinal, Alex Lucier, Sarah Gracie Harrison, Andre Chedda, Jordan Vazquez, Ray Andolfo, Rebecca Coccoli, Monica Relvinha, Francisco Frias and Jeremy Nardella. The three teachers for the program are Suzanne Meyer, Kelly Starliper-Morris and Christine Baum.
