A North Kingstown woman is facing charges following a wrong-way, head-on collision on Route 10 early Sunday morning.

Samantha Cram, 24, of 145 Pendar Road, is charged with driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury (first offense, BAC unknown), refusal to submit to a chemical test, driving to endanger resulting in personal injury, and driving to endanger resulting in physical injury.

According to police, the accident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday when Cram drove her vehicle the wrong way onto Route 10 southbound and struck and SUV. Three people were hurt, but none of the injuries were considered life threatening.

Man admits to seeking

sex with 14-year-old

A Scituate man has pleaded guilty to allegations he traveled to Cranston in September 2015 with the intention of exchanging an iPhone for sex with a 14-year-old girl, according to prosecutors.

The office of U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha announced Randy A. Collins, 44, entered the plea last week in federal court on a count of interstate travel for illicit sexual conduct. His sentencing is scheduled for May 26.

According to authorities, Collins acknowledged responding in 2015 to an advertisement on Craigslist that he believed had been posted by a 14-year-old girl seeking to obtain an iPhone 6. The person with whom Collins was communicating was in fact a Rhode Island State Police detective, authorities said.

Despite being repeatedly informed of the age of the person who posted the ad, Neronha’s office in a statement said Collins “responded that he was still interested in meeting with her.” He then “turned the exchange to a sexual nature and proposed obtaining the iPhone in exchange for sex,” prosecutors say.

Arrangements were made, and on Sept. 2, 2015, Collins left his workplace in Franklin, Mass., and traveled to Cranston to meet the person with whom he had communicated. Upon arrival, state police and Homeland Security personnel took him into custody.
