On Oct. 5, a RI Shelter Pup Crawl was held in three locations, one being the Cranston Animal Shelter. Adoptable dogs were introduced during a beauty pageant, and fees were waived for all dogs adopted through the event. Free training by Susan Parker and free neutering were also offered. The Pup Crawl was run by the Little Rhodie Bully Breed Club. Pictured at top left are the Cranston judges – Deborah Branch, Lisa Scott, Ryan Loiselle, Mario Hilario of NBC 10 and Florette Ruggiero. Pictured at bottom left is Susan Parker, dog trainer, introducing Scamp, a four-year-old Pit bull led by Hilary Ferris, during the Pub Crawl in Cranston. At bottom right, winning the first Pup Crawl in Cranston was Zoe, a 10-year-old Beagle who was escorted by Michele Dittig. (Herald photos by Steve Popiel/Text by Meri R. Kennedy)
