Robert J. Willette, 90, of Edgewood, passed away July 23, 2011. He was the husband of the late Theresa M. (Doyon) Willette.
Born in Bridgewater, Mass., he was a son of the late Joseph and Celena (Damien) Willette. Robert was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He was one of the original organizers of Edgewood Eagles football and also was dedicated to Edgewood- South Elmwood Little League for many years. He was an avid Yankees fan and affectionately known as "Uncle Bob."
He was devoted to his loving family, his son Robert J. Willette and his wife, Vicki, daughter Maureen G. Lipata, grandsons Jason and Justin and two great-grandchildren. He was brother of the late Thomas, Arthur, Patrick, Napoleon and Joseph Willette, Bea Dionne, Alice Belanger, Deliah Benoit, Blanch Secours, Rose Rymell, Celina Valade and Anita Sherman.
A funeral service was held July 26 in Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad St. at Park Ave., Cranston. Burial with military honors was held at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visit www.jwsfh.com.
