Johnston’s West End has again landed on the national corporate map.
For the second time in as many years, a nationwide company that has opened its doors at 2750 Hartford Ave. (Route 6).
Last Saturday, Mayor Joseph Polisena and group of local leaders welcomed O’Reilly Auto Parts to Johnston with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the 7,700-square-foot facility.
“This store is beautiful,” Polisena told Chris Verraneault, who’ll manage the Johnston O’Reilly’s location. “What a fantastic facility.”
The welcoming committee included state Rep. Deborah Fellela, District 1 Town Councilman Richard DelFino III, and District 5 Town Council candidate Bob Civetti. Those present toured the facility prior to Polisena making it official by cutting the ribbon outside the main entrance.
“What a great addition to our business community,” DelFino said. “Not only do we have a national auto parts store here, we’ve got another national chain – Tractor Supply Company – right next door. This is without question a great day for Johnston.”
“Anytime a new business opens in town, it’s exciting,” Fellela said.
Polisena presented Verraneault and other company officials – including Ed Greene, a Warwick resident who’ll manage the under-construction O’Reilly Auto Parts on West Shore Shore Road at Wildes Corner in that community – with an official commendation for choosing to open a store in Johnston.
“We welcome this great company and its employees to Johnston,” the mayor said. “Please accept our heartfelt well wishes for success and prosperity now and in the years to come at this location.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony wasn’t the only excitement at O’Reilly Auto Parts last Saturday. Store managers like Tom Harrington and Chris Canning – who came from other O’Reilly locations – cooked and served hamburgers and hot dogs along with chips and cold drinks to people who stopped by.
A total of 10 other area managers were on hand to assist Verraneault and Greene with the day’s grand opening, which also included music and several classic cars.
