Western Hills Chorus leaps to record numbers

The students in the Western Hills Middle School Chorus held their first concert of the school year recently: all 78 of them. Director Katie Karikas announced before the show began, that this year's record number of participants has doubled from last year. Karikas, along with piano accompanist Rena Anthony, led the group in a variety of songs, including folk songs, holiday songs and classic rock favorites. There were nine selections in all, many of which included soloists and descant singers. Following the hour-long performance, Karikas noted that the selection "To Music" was a song from the days of her student teaching experience, at which time she was a student teacher under Anthony.
