Alves family helps support LLS

When the Leukemia Lymphoma Society held its Grand Celebration Finale at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, Cranston High School West – which had three of the eight tams that competed for Student of the Year honors – was well-presented by members of what many people called the “Falcons’ fantastic family.”

Among those folks was the Alves family – one-time West Warwick High football great and former New England wrestling champion and Union College grad Steve Alves who doubles as an assistant football coach at West and his wonderful wife Lisa Martinelli-Alves.

Likewise, they were accompanied by their daughter Madison Alves, a talented two-sport star at Cranston West and son Cameron Alves who is rated one of Rhode Island’s top high school football quarterbacks.

While the Alves family supported Team AJ of Arianna Annicelli and Jordan McInerney and Team Beat It of Alexa Lombardi and Maddison Marcello, they also cheered on Team ConCure of Julianna Soscia and Talia Notarianni that raised $18,503.78 and were thus named the LLS “Students of the Year’s for 2019 and awarded a $2,500 at the college or university that they will attend.
