This past weekend, the parishioners at St. David's-on-the-Hill Episcopal Church may have noticed a few unusual guests in the pews. The parish welcomed all guests, two-legged, four-legged, feathered, finned and furry, to their 5 p.m. service on Saturday evening and 10 a.m. service on Sunday morning in honor of this Oct. 4 Feast of St. Francis. The patron saint of animals and the environment was born in the 12th century in Italy, but his love of animals is celebrated still today with many churches throughout the United States participating in a Blessing of the Animals.
