To the Editor:
Given the conversations regarding the acquisition of Care New England by Brigham Health, I want to share my experience with doctors from both hospitals.
After being diagnosed by my gastroenterologist with a colon polyp, I was referred to Kent Hospital and Dr. Melissa Murphy, a Brigham surgeon based at Kent. Her willingness to answer every question I asked gave me great confidence. Because of Kent’s long-term affiliation with Brigham, I never had to go to Boston. I had my operation at Kent, where my polyp was successfully removed. I don’t have a single complaint about the entire process and, after two years, I’m thinking about riding my bike again. I support the acquisition because I want others to have the same opportunity I did: to receive quality care locally. I am thankful to both hospitals for what they did to help me and will continue going to Kent for my routine screenings.
