Career and Tech Center hosts open house

The Cranston Area Career and Technical Center opened its doors to the public last week for their annual Open House. Geared toward prospective students, including all two-year college, four-year college and workforce-bound students, the school had all of its career pathway programs open for information, with both students and staff on hand to answer questions.

High school students from all over Cranston, as well as nearby Johnston and Scituate, can apply to CACTC for their sophomore year, completing three years in each of the career education programs and graduating with a diploma from CACTC and Cranston West. With certification programs in each career program and articulation agreements with several area colleges and universities, CACTC provides their students with increased opportunities for internships, scholarships and hands-on experience during their high school career.

Last year's CHSW valedictorian, Michael Beck, called entering the entrepreneurship program at CACTC "the best decision of my high school career," noting that the program prepared him for his future career in business and for making his way in the world.
