As snow fell on Sunday evening, hundreds of members of the community gathered for the fifth annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Knightsville.
The event, organized by Ward 5 City Councilman Chris Paplauskas, began with students from the St. Mary’s School Choir singing Christmas songs, followed by the tree lighting and a visit from Santa Claus via a city fire truck.
“It sure was an evening full of Christmas magic,” Paplauskas said.
The councilman thanked the event’s volunteers, the choir, Lou Umberto’s Italian Kitchen, the Thirsty Beaver, 39 West Restaurant and Lounge, Maplewood Landscaping & Nursery, Mayor Allan Fung, the St. Mary’s Feast Society and the Cranston Police and Fire departments for their support of the festivities.
