Concert review: Celtic Woman - Voices of Angels

Posted

I was never a big fan of Irish music…until I visited Ireland. I quickly learned that their music was an integral part of their history and culture, an expression of their love for their beautiful land and sea, and their passion for life.

Celtic Woman-Voices of Angels brought that passion to the Providence Performing Arts Center last week with a blockbuster show that featured three beautiful voices, dancing, storytelling and musical instruments (including bagpipes, harp, fiddle and drums) that represented their country. In the background were beautiful images and films of the Irish countryside, coastline, and people. We recognized many locations visited in our trip.

From graceful ballads to lively collaborations to a percussion solo that brought down the house, Celtic Woman entertained an appreciative audience for over two hours.

We heard “Ave Maria” and “Danny Boy” like we’ve never heard them before, plus a variety of over two dozen songs that all blended together to make a memorable night of entertainment.

Celtic Woman is now touring the East Coast and has already booked PPAC for next season. Check them out on their website, celticwoman.com, and listen to their many CD’s. And be sure to catch them next time around.
