A Georgia man has been indicted on numerous charges in connection with a domestic incident last year.
Emil Pastor Diaz, 28, of 10853 Barberry Drive in Atlanta, Ga., is charged with domestic breaking and entering, domestic strangulation, simple domestic assault, and larceny under $1,500.
The office of Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced the indictment last week. Diaz is due to be arraigned in Superior Court on July 6.
According to a statement from prosecutors, it is alleged that Diaz in November 2015 “broke into the residence of a woman with whom he was in a relationship … and assaulted and robbed her.” The incident took place in Cranston, and was investigated by Cranston police.
A convicted felon has pleaded guilty to drug and weapons charges, and a Cranston police detective has been applauded for his work on the case through a multi-agency task force.
Thealeah Duopu, 40, of Providence, pleaded guilty last week to one count each of possession with the intent to distribute 28 grams or more of crack cocaine and distribution of 28 grams or more of crack cocaine, three counts of distribution of crack cocaine, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha. His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 14.
According to prosecutors, an undercover member of the ATF Task Force made at least four crack cocaine purchases from Duopu in a Pawtucket parking lot between October and November 2015.
Task force members arrested Duopu as he left his Providence residence on Nov. 12, 2015, and are said to have seized more than 50 grams of crack cocaine and $538 in cash from his person. A subsequent search of the residence uncovered more than 67 grams of crack cocaine, more than $20,000 in cash, and a loaded semi-automatic firearm, according to Neronha’s office.
The ATF Task Force includes personnel from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Cranston Police Department. The department in a Facebook posting recognized Special Investigations Unit Detective Ronald Fuoroli for his work on the case and with the task force.
