Cameron Vincente recently graduated from the Cranston Area Career and Technical Center (CACTC). Now, he’s been hired as a cook at Avvio Ristorante in Garden City.
Vincente was in the ProStart High School Culinary Arts and Food Service Management Program at CACTC and through them was able to compete in the state competition hosted by the RI Hospitality Education Foundation. Vincente was part of the winning team in the Rhode Island Seafood Cook-off as well, producing the winning dish of Monkfish sliders, which were used at Avvio’s sister restaurant Trio in Narragansett.
At that competition, Avvio’s executive chef Greg Coccio took notice of Vincente’s skill and Vincente began an internship at the Italian restaurant in April. He was then promoted to full-time when he graduated from the CACTC in June.
Today, Vincente is learning how to make Avvio’s Neopolitan pizzas.
