Cranston makes list of ‘50 Best Cities to Live’

There are countless communities across the U.S., but Cranston remains among the very best in which to live, according to a recently published list.

The city ranks 41st among “America’s 50 Best Cities to Live,” as determined by news and business content provider 24/7 Wall St.

Cranston falls just behind Port St. Lucie, Fla., and sits one spot ahead of Concord, N.C. The city ranked 36th on the same list in 2014.

Topping the list is Meridian, Id., while Danbury, Conn. – the only other New England community included – ranks second overall.

According to 24/7 Wall St., the list was compiled through a survey of the approximately 550 U.S. cities with a population of more than 65,000 residents as of 2014. The process involved the review of data across nine categories – crime, demography, economy, education, environment, health, housing, infrastructure, and leisure.

The list cites Cranston’s air quality, ample access to libraries and sports clubs, and low violent crime rate as positive attributes.
