On July 6, the Cranston Police Department held a Blood Drive at Police Headquarters, located at 5 Garfield Ave. This annual blood drive is done in honor of a member of the Cranston Police law enforcement family, Miranda Petrella. She is the daughter of Retired Cranston Police Detective Mark Petrella.

A little over five years ago, Miranda was diagnosed with leukemia and spent six months at Hasbro Children’s Hospital where she received intensive chemotherapy treatments. Throughout her treatment, Miranda received nearly 50 units of red blood cells and multiple platelet transfusions. Miranda has been in remission since Oct. 2012 and living a happy and healthy life.

If you could not make it to the Blood Drive, visit ribc.org to make an appointment using sponsor code 3179.
