The Community Players continue their 96th season with “Tomfoolery,” a musical comedy revue of the witty, wicked and thoroughly twisted world of famed satirical songwriter Tom Lehrer.
In concerts, TV appearances and a series of now-classic recordings, the Harvard-educated math professor delighted millions of fans during the ’50s and ’60s with his dry, cynical but good-humored attacks on the A-bomb, racism, pollution, the military, the Boy Scouts and, of course, mathematics. Nothing is sacred in the hilarious revue where no one is spared.
Directed by Lee Rush (Cranston), with musical direction by Maria Day (East Greenwich) and choreography by Bill Whitehead Jr. (Scituate), “Tomfoolery” features Vivienne Carrette (Providence), Alyce Fitzgerald-Hagopian (South Attleboro), Christopher Margadonna (Richmond), Ken McPherson (East Providence), Paul Oliver (Cranston) and Michael Thurber (Chepachet).
“Tomfoolery” will be presented March 25, 26, April 1, 2, 8 and 9 at Jenks Auditorium, 350 Division Street, Pawtucket (across from McCoy Stadium). Performances are Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for students. Opening night is March 25 where patrons may be entered into a drawing for a special prize. Order tickets online and print them at home by visiting www.thecommunityplayers.net or call 726-6860. Mark your calendar for an evening of fun and laughter.
