East and West earn $1,500 for healthy eating
Superintendent Dr. Judy Lundsten recently extended congratulations to the students at Cranston East and West for making healthy eating choices. Both schools participated in a challenge issued by Sodexo and earned a hefty check by doing so. "Each year, Sodexo runs a challenge for their high school students where the students earn points for making healthy meal choices," Lundsten explained. "This year, Cranston East and West both did a top notch job, earning $1,500 to share between them. East earned $1,000 and West earned $500." According to Lynne Conca of Sodexo, this is Cranston East's second year earning money for their school by making healthy choices. Principals Sean Kelly and Tom Barbieri accepted the checks on behalf of their student bodies. The money will be used for student activities, at the school's discretion.
