Justin Neary threw three touchdown passes and running back Rayven DeOliveira rushed for three scores as the Cranston East football team continued its dominance of Division I-B with a 40-6 trouncing of Cumberland on Friday night.

The ’Bolts raced out to an early lead when Neary connected with senior wideout Isaiah Hinds for a pair of touchdowns of 18 and 40 yards in the first quarter to give East a 14-0 lead after 12 minutes of play.

East then scored three more times in the second quarter, with DeOliveira finding pay dirt twice on a 1-yard plunge and a 22-yard scamper, and Neary threw for his third touchdown in the first half when he found junior receiver Robenson Antoine from three yards out, giving the ’Bolts an insurmountable 33-0 lead at halftime.

The Clippers broke the shutout with a touchdown in the third quarter, but DeOliveira recorded the lone score in the fourth quarter with an 8-yard run into the end zone to secure the 40-6 victory for the ’Bolts.

East (3-0) will have this week off from action, but its toughest test of the season is looming for next week.

The ’Bolts will host La Salle at Cranston Stadium next Friday at 7 p.m. East and La Salle were co-Division I-B regular-season champions a season ago with identical 6-1 records.
