East plays host to regional band competition

Posted

The gym at Cranston High School East was crowded on March 10 for the New England Scholastic Band Association (NESBA) competition. Cranston High School East was proud to play host for the third straight year.

The event was hosted by Cranston East Alumni Music Association with the mission of assisting the life-long relationship of Cranston East with band alumni, their families and the community.

The audience enjoyed the sights and sounds of over 20 indoor percussion & color guard groups, including a performance by Cranston East called “Mittyesque” which consisted of a 26-member ensemble. The performance was based on the life of Walter Mitty. In total, 22 percussion and color guards from around New England participated.

The evening also included raffles and a full concession stand was available.

  • Solved Question

It's actually not a xylophone section in the picture, it is called a "Front Ensemble" and consists of Marimbas, Xylophones, Vibraphones, Glockenspiel, Synthesizers, Concert Bass, Concert Snare, an Electric Drum Pad, a Tambourine, and a Triangle.

Also pictured is the drumbline, or "Battery" in the background, consisting of Bass Drums, Snare Drums, and Tenor Drums.

Please do not say Xylophone section.
