Enrichment Center lights torch on 22nd Senior Games

MEETING THE MAYOR: Barbara Bogosian, age 70 and a participant in competitive 10- pin bowling at Lang’s Bowlarama meeting with Mayor Allan Fung who stopped by to cheer on the seniors. There was also duckpin bowling being held at Legion Bowl.

IN THE LEAD: In the lead during the 400-meter walk held at Tate Field as part of the Senior Games on Sept. 23 was Janet Freniere, age 79. Behind her are Eugenia Burgess, age 86 and George Silva, age 92.

Michael A. Traficante Enrichment Center, the former Cranston Senior Enrichment Center, held their 22nd Annual Senior Games at the Center, located at 1070 Cranston St. and multiple venues throughout the City. Opening Ceremonies was held on Sept. 23 at the Center and featured Danielle North from WPRI TV as guest speaker, Mayor Allan Fung provided greetings from the City and Program Director Kathi Dunphy emceed the event.

Breakfast and lunch were provided to the senior athletes who participated in both physical and mental agility games. Hundreds of participants were on hand for games such as golf, bowling, bocce, horseshoes, billiards, track and mind games.

All athletes were treated to dinner at the Center on this past Tuesday evening
