F. Harriett Dever


F. Harriett Dever, 93, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017.

She was a daughter of the late James A., Sr. and Florence M. (Andrews) Dever, she was a lifelong resident of Providence and a 1942 graduate of Central High School. Harriett was a secretary for the Cranston School Department at the Briggs School and Park View Middle School until her retirement in 2003. She served on the Board of Directors of Volunteers in Cranston Schools, was a volunteer at PBS, the Knight Library in Providence, Church of the Transfiguration, Senior Olympics, the Cranston Senior Center, Roger Williams Park Zoo, and many other charitable organizations. Since 1936 she had been a member and volunteer with the Girl Scouts. Harriett also served as Parish Clerk for the former Church of the Epiphany for 55 years.

She was the sister of the late James A. Dever, Jr.; aunt of the late James P. Dever; aunt of Daniel and Dennis Dever and great aunt of Patrick and Daphnye Dever of California. Hariett is also survived by many cousins in New Hampshire and Maine.

A graveside service will take place at All Saints Cemetery, 389 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, RI on Saturday, November 25 at 11:00A.M.
