The Santa Maria Di Prata Society celebrated its 33rd annual feast – dubbed “A Taste of Italy” – over the Labor Day weekend.

Food, music and activities for children filled the society’s grounds on Walnut Grove Avenue during the three-day event, which drew approximately 4,000 visitors.

The Santa Maria Di Prata Society was started in 1984 by a group of Italian-Americans who came to the United States in the 1950s and 1960s from a small town, Prata Sannita, in southern Italy. Those immigrants settled largely in Cranston and Johnston.

Proceeds from the annual feast help maintain the society’s building and support its donations to nonprofit organizations.
